This polyvalent blade became the emblem of South-East Asia Martials Arts such as the Pencak Silat. Traditionally and as told in the legends, the Karambit shape would have been made from the shape of a Tiger claw, as it is the symbolic animal of Malaysia. The most common one is by putting your index on the hole and the rest of your hand on the handle, resulting in a comfortable hold allowing smooth movements. Another option is putting your pinky in the hole, and then the rest of your hand on the handle, giving you a “reverse” hold.
